Best way to solve my noise problem.

Post by mer7cer7 » Sat Jul 03, 2010 4:57 pm

Hi guys,

I'm using my servo to open and close my windows.

The problem is when the servo is on (holding but no turning) it is making a loud electronic noise. I cut the power to the servo to kill the noise (it holds it position just fine with the power off). But the noise is very annoying...even for the short period of time.

So I'm wondering what could it be?

I have enough power to it (5v 800mA), and my servo is pretty strong. My wires are pretty long (about 5 feet) could that have anything to do with it, could a signal booster solve it? (can't really test it under load with short wires the way I have it positioned).

Here is the servo I have up there (its turning my wooden windows)

I would recommend bringing it up in another thread, seems off topic for this thread. Also doesn't appear it's an OpenServo servo. My guess is that it's just a cheap servo, and not much you can do. If you had it an OpenServo, I could recommend some changes. In this case it appears you don't have many options.
